StanPlas is a versatile product that can be utilized in both heel counter and boxtoe applications. StanPlas is composed of a non-woven polyester base fabric saturated with proprietary resins. These resins are formulated to provide ease of initial activation and molding. StanPlas is moisture resistant to prevent degradation from either perspiration or outside sources of moisture.
The surface adhesive is unique in nature, and activates or "tacks" at lower than normal temperatures. This adhesive formulation allows for contact preheating of the component while retaining a "clean" state for handling. The enhanced bonding characteristics of StanPlas surface adhesives are a plus when used in facilities or applications lacking in precise molding devices - thus, a window of "forgiveness" in factory processing.
StanPlas materials are available with different quantities of surface adhesive to provide options based on end use.The "H" series will be the standard, and recommended for most counter applications. The "M" and "L" series have progressively less adhesive, and are recommended for use in boxtoe and counter applications incorporating easily bonded, porous, and/or lightweight upper and lining materials. Adhesive quantity "H", 'M", or "L" does not alter the listed guidelines for temperature, dwell settings, and handling and use.
The lightweight grades of StanPlas are available with a one-side fabric for use as a (wet) cement applied boxtoe.
